As part of the celebrations of Portuguese Language Day and Culture in the CPLP, and the organization's 30th anniversary, ALER took part in the initiatives held on 21st May 2026 at the headquarters of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) in Lisbon. The opening session featured remarks by the CPLP Executive Secretary, Maria de Fátima Jardim, and the Permanent Representative of Timor-Leste to the CPLP, Ambassador Natália Carrascalão, representing the Presidency-in-Office.
In this context, ALER participated in the Roundtable of Consultative Observer Representatives of the CPLP, which formed part of the official celebrations programme, contributing to the dialogue among the various entities that make up this cooperation network.
As coordinator of the CPLP Energy and Climate Thematic Commission, ALER was represented by Isabel Cancela de Abreu (Executive Director), who presented the main results achieved within the framework of this Commission, as well as its priorities and next steps.
Among the highlighted initiatives were the CPLP Energy and Climate Seminar Series, the 2030 Cooperation Roadmap on Energy and Climate in CPLP Countries, and the 2nd CPLP Energy Conference. These initiatives have played a key role in strengthening dialogue and cooperation among Member States, promoting strategic alignment and knowledge sharing in the energy sector.
Additionally, they reflect ALER’s contribution to fostering a coordinated and cross-sectoral approach within the CPLP, with a focus on mobilising financing, developing projects and accelerating the energy transition.
