ALER participates in the EurAfrican Forum 2026

ALER participated in the EurAfrican Forum 2026, held on 15th and 16th July in Cascais under the theme “Africa Rising: Prosperity Through Global Cooperation”, bringing together political, business and institutional leaders from Africa and Europe to discuss key challenges and opportunities for cooperation between the two continents.

Pedro Clemente, ALER’s Operations Director, followed the discussions on trade and investment, energy, infrastructure, innovation and technology, areas identified by the Forum as essential for sustainable development and for strengthening relations between Africa and Europe.

Among the key themes discussed was the need to strengthen trust-based relations between Africa and Europe, promote long-term investment and create the conditions needed to transform the economic potential of both continents into shared value.

During the conversation between the Presidents of Portugal and Mozambique, António José Seguro and Daniel Chapo, the importance of transforming trade relations into long-term strategic partnerships was also highlighted, with a strong focus on technology, digital transformation, knowledge and youth empowerment.

The event also featured the participation of several ALER Members, namely CJR Renewables, as a speaker, and Miranda Alliance, as moderator of the energy panel “Building Resilient, Sustainable and Inclusive Futures”. MCA Group, GreenLight and VdA also attended the event.

For ALER, the importance of the energy sector as a strategic pillar for Europe–Africa cooperation was clearly reaffirmed. It is a priority to develop pipelines of viable and attractive projects for the private sector, while also establishing partnerships that can mobilise investment, accelerate project implementation on the ground, foster technological innovation, and strengthen local capacities and skills.
