ALER strengthens institutional dialogue and cooperation with the IEA and Timor-Leste
In recent days, ALER met with international strategic partners – namely Mary Burce Warlick, Deputy Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), and the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to the CPLP, Natália Carrascalão – with the aim of deepening institutional dialogue and strengthening cooperation in the energy sector.
Engagement with the IEA allowed for the consolidation of existing institutional collaboration and the exploration of new opportunities for joint initiatives, including the possibility of developing a Lusophone initiative within the framework of the Clean Cooking Summit.
The meeting with Timor-Leste, which currently holds the CPLP Presidency, was particularly relevant, as it strengthened alignment around the activities of the CPLP Thematic Commission on Energy and Climate, coordinated by ALER, and supported the preparation of future initiatives within the CPLP, with a focus on accelerating energy transitions.
These meetings contribute to strengthening coordination between countries, multilateral institutions and development partners, consolidating ALER’s role as a platform for international cooperation and a facilitator of strategic partnerships in the energy sector.
