Mozambique strengthens the availability of energy sector data

The Mozambican Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) regularly publishes the ETE Radar, a publication dedicated to tracking the implementation of the Energy Transition Strategy 2023–2050 (ETE). Coordinated by the ETE Task Force, the Radar brings together information on trends, investment opportunities, projects, public policies and other relevant initiatives in the energy sector, covering areas such as energy access, electrification, renewable energy, sustainable fuels, industrialisation and investment.

The edition of 28th September 2026 highlights, among other topics, the Government’s intention to mobilise approximately USD 1.1 billion for off-grid electrification by 2030, the 6.4% growth in solar power generation during the first half of 2026, reaching 52,576 MWh, and the expansion of electricity access in the district of Marara, in Tete Province, benefiting around 5,000 people.

The ETE Radar forms part of a broader set of initiatives aimed at strengthening the production and dissemination of information on Mozambique’s energy sector. These include the 5th edition of the Energy Statistical Report 2023–2024, published by MIREME with the support of the National Statistics Institute, and  Energy Market Bulletins published by ARENE, including the Electricity Subsector Bulletin – First Quarter of 2026, which provides quarterly updates on electricity generation, consumption, tariffs, market operators and electricity exchanges.

Together, the ETE Radar, MIREME’s statistical reports and ARENE’s market bulletins provide an increasingly regular and accessible source of information for public institutions, companies, investors and development partners. This information is essential for supporting planning, attracting investment and monitoring progress towards Mozambique’s energy transition targets.
