Regional cooperation and business collaboration take centre stage in ALER’s initiatives at RENMOZ 2026
As part of RENMOZ 2026, ALER promoted initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation among CPLP countries and fostering business opportunities in Mozambique’s energy sector, bringing together institutional representatives, companies, and development partners.
One of the highlights was the session “Regional Energy Cooperation in the CPLP”, organized by ALER, which focused on the work carried out by the CPLP Energy and Climate Thematic Commission and the opportunities for collaboration, investment, and knowledge sharing among Member States.
The session featured Mayra Pereira (ALER), Henriques Senda (MIREME), Carlos Xerinda (ARENE/RELOP) and Catarina Sousa (Portuguese Climate Agency), and was moderated by Enrico dal Farra (GET.transform). The panel emphasized the importance of cooperation among Portuguese-speaking countries in addressing common challenges, mobilizing financing, structuring projects, and strengthening national capacities in the fields of energy and climate.
The discussion also highlighted Mozambique’s growing role in attracting investment and international cooperation, reinforcing its position as an emerging reference point for the energy transition within the CPLP community. Participants also recalled the key outcomes of the 1st CPLP Energy and Climate Week, held in Maputo in 2025.
In parallel, ALER supported the Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency (AICEP) in organizing a session for Portuguese companies participating in RENMOZ 2026, with a focus on the opportunities presented by the Global Gateway initiative in Mozambique. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Carla Grijó and representatives of Team Portugal, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, AICEP, Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language, and the Portuguese Development Bank.
This closed-door session provided an opportunity to present financial instruments and investment support mechanisms, as well as to discuss opportunities in the areas of energy transition, infrastructure, digitalization, and sustainable industrialization, strengthening connections between Portuguese institutions and companies interested in developing activities in the Mozambican market.
Through these initiatives, ALER reaffirmed its role as a cooperation platform and facilitator of opportunities, helping to bring institutions and businesses closer together and promoting a sustainable development agenda based on regional collaboration and investment mobilization.
