Pathways to a Just Transition in the CPLP Countries

The workshop “Pathways to Just Transitions in CPLP Countries” took place on 16th June 2026, in Bonn (Germany), on the sidelines of the 64th Subsidiary Body Session of the UNFCCC (SB64). Organized by ALER and LACLIMA, the session brought together representatives from almost all CPLP countries, as well as regional organizations, civil society and international partners, reinforcing the shared commitment to promoting just energy transitions across the Lusophone space.

The workshop created a space for reflection and dialogue on the meaning of a just transition within the CPLP, as well as on the concept of Transitioning Away From Fossil Fuels (TAFF), promoted by the Brazilian COP30 Presidency. Following a series of technical and informative presentations, the session opened into an interactive debate, allowing participants and country representatives to ask questions, share concerns and highlight benefits observed in their national contexts.

Several key documents were presented and discussed:

The event contributed to strengthening lusophone dialogue on energy, climate and just transition, bringing multilateral discussions closer to the national and territorial realities of CPLP countries, particularly in the post‑COP30 context.
