The 5th CPLP Energy and Climate Seminar took place on 20th October 2025, in Maputo (Mozambique), and focused on Energy Planning and Financing — the first pillar defined as a priority in the CPLP 2030 Energy and Climate Cooperation Roadmapin by the focal points and representatives present at the 4th CPLP Energy and Climate Seminar, held in March this year.

The II CPLP Energy Conference will take place on the 27th and 28th of May 2025, in Estoril Congress Center, Cascais, Portugal, and will be the stage for the dissemination of the latest developments and anchor projects for energy transitions in each CPLP country, with a view to making the most of endogenous resources and diversifying the energy matrix, to ensure universal, reliable and affordable access for all, while supporting socio-economic development.

The 4th Business Conference - Renewables in Mozambique (RENMOZ 2024) returns to Maputo on the 1st trimester of 2025. Organized by ALER and the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER), the event aims to promote the renewable energy sector and disseminate crucial data for its development in Mozambique.

The 4th CPLP Energy and Climate Seminar will take place on March 25, 2025, in São Tomé and Príncipe, and will mainly focus on the development of a Lusophone Roadmap for COP 30.

The 3rd CPLP Energy and Climate Seminar focused on Carbon Markets, and was an opportunity to discuss and share best practices for regulating and trading carbon credits, considering the socio-environmental impacts generated.

Under the topic “The contribution of climate finance mechanisms to accelerating the energy transition in the CPLP Member States”, the 2nd CPLP Energy and Climate Seminar focused mainly on the role of climate funds.

The Government of São Tomé and Príncipe, which holds the Presidency of the CPLP, together with the Energy Thematic Committee of the CPLP Consultative Observers, coordinated by ALER and RELOP, and with the institutional support of the CPLP, will promote an Energy and Climate Seminars Series to discuss the contribution of climate finance mechanisms to accelerating the energy transition in the CPLP Member States.

The webinar “Energizing Africa: How EU Financing is Changing the Renewable Landscape?” will bring together EU development finance institutions alongside experienced project developers to discuss the role of EU financing in supporting more clean energy projects.

ALER Market Outlook provides information on the latest developments in the renewable energy market in the five Portuguese-speaking African countries that ALER monitors, materialized in national market sheets, exclusively accessible to ALER Members.

Organized by GET.transform, in collaboration with GET.invest and in partnership with ALER and AMER, "Scaling Distributed Generation in Mozambique" took place in Maputo on 29th February.

A Good Practices Seminar was held on December 13th in Luanda as part of the "Agreement for the Implementation of an Action" signed between the Angolan Ministry of Energy and Water (MINEA), the Lusophone Renewable Energy Association (ALER) and the EU-Angola Dialogue Facility.

The Business Conference – Renewables in Mozambique 2023 (RenMoz 2023) returned to Maputo on November 24, this time following the Mozambique-EU Global Gateway Investment Forum which took place on 22 and 23 November.

ALER is pleased to announce that it will host the 8th edition of the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF 2023). The event took place in Praia, Cape Verde, on October 12th and 13th.

On July 11th, ALER joined forces with the Brazilian Renewable Energy Associations to broaden and promote debate and cooperation between Portuguese-speaking African countries and Brazil.

From July 3rd to 7th, ALER developed the Countries' Week: Each day, one country, to present all the information about renewable energies in Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe.

The Presentation event of the Portuguese version of the International Energy Agency Report - Africa Energy Outlook 2022 took place on December 12th, in Maputo and was simultaneously transmitted online.

The exclusive event for B2B matchmaking took place on December 8th, in Maputo, at the Hotel Southern Sun that aimed to bring together the domestic financial sector with international development finance institutions.

The Business Conference - Renewables in Mozambique took place on December 6th and 7th 2022, in Maputo, with online transmission. This event aimed to discuss the potential of renewable energies as a way of accelerating the electrification of the country.

On November 17th, the event "Renewables for Industry and Agriculture in Mozambique" took place in Maputo, with online transmission. This event is an opportunity for the agricultural and industrial sector to discover the benefits that renewable energies can offer to their projects.

The first International Conference on Sustainable Energy in São Tomé and Príncipe took place on the 20th and 21st of July in São Tomé and Príncipe and with online transmission. The Conference had simultaneos interpretation and is available in English.

The International Conference took place on July 5th and 6th in Luanda and it was dedicated to the promotion of renewable energy in Angola.

In parallel to the International Conference - Renewable Energy in Angola 2022, ALER and ASAER, in partnership with MINEA and with the support of GET.Invest, are organizing a Business Mission on the 4th and 7th of July at the Hotel Baía in Luanda.

On May 25th took place, in Maputo, the event that presented and promoted the dialogue on renewable energy projects and the electricity grid in Mozambique.

On April 21st,  the webinar dedicated to São Tomé and Príncipe Renewable Energies and energy efficiency National action Plan was presented exclusively online.

The presentation of the Women Sustainable Energy Program took place at the 3rd edition of FIEREE - International Fair of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, in Cidade da Praia, Cape Verde.

On March 9th, the Webinar that presented relevant Case Studies of projects developed on renewable energies took place.

On February 24th, the webinar that introduced the new Regulation on access to energy in off-grid areas took place.

The 2nd Edition of the ALER Talks took place on October 14th, 2021, under the topic "The Role of National Banks in Financing the Renewable Energy Sector".

"ASAER and the promotion of renewable energy in Angola" was the motto of the event held on the morning of 30 September, organised by ASAER in partnership with ALER and, with the support of the European programme Get.Invest - the European programme supported by the European Union, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and Austria - and the British Embassy.

The first ALER Talk took place on May 27 at 10:30a.m. with the theme "New Regulatory Framework for Renovable Energy Projects in Angola" where were discussed the conditions that are being created to promote private investment in the development of new renewable energy projects, namely the publication of new regulations and a regime of incentives.

On 24 March, the Lusophone Renewable Energy Association (ALER) and the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER) organized the Seminar Opportunities for IPP Projects: Renewables in Mozambique 2021, in cooperation with GET.invest Mozambique - funded by the European Union and Germany, and part of the European programme GET.invest , and in partnership with the Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA), Mozambique Women in Energy (MWE) and SolarPower Europe.

From 22 to 23 of March, the Lusophone Renewable Energy Association (ALER) and the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER), in cooperation with GET.invest Mozambique - funded by the European Union and Germany, and part of the European programme GET.invest organized the Europe-Mozambique Investment Forum: Renewables in Mozambique 2021.

ALER will join EDP in the organisation of Access to Energy Fund Presentation Webinar that will take place on 17th of December at 3p.m. (GMT).

On 20 November at 10 am (GMT - Portugal time), ALER in partnership with the Ministry of Infrastructures and Natural Resources (MIRN) organized the webinar “Sustainable Energy to accelerate green recovery in São Tomé and Príncipe post-COVID 19”.

Due to the most recent events related to Covid 19, the conference organisers, together with its partners, made the decision to postpone the Renewables in Mozambique 2020 conference.

This Session is organized by ALER with AfBD, European Comission and took place on 13 June at 4:30 p.m. at Vila Galé Ópera Hotel, in Lisbon.

The session organized by ALER with AICEP, SOFID and GPEARI, will be attended on May 27th at 4p.m. at AICEP auditorium, in Lisbon.

The Guinea Bissau Sustainable Energy International Conference took place between 6 and 7 December 2018 in Bissau, Guinea Bissau.

The workshop to validate the "National Renewable Energy Status Report of São Tomé and Príncipe" and the "Strategic Program for the promotion of investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency in Electric Sector of São Tomé and Príncipe" project components took place on the 14th of June 2018. Organized by ALER, in partnership with UNIDO and the Ministry of Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Environment of São Tomé and Príncipe, this event was supported by GEF.

The Guinea Bissau Sustainable Energy Investment Workshop took place on the 4th of May 2018 in Lisbon between 2 and 6 pm.

Organized by ALER, in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Industry in Guinea Bissau, UNIDO and ECREEE, the event was supported by GEF.

ALER, with the support from the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP), organised a high-level international conference in Mozambique on October 25 and 26. The objective of the conference was to bring together European and African Renewable Energy businesses, developers and policy makers.

On July 21st ALER's Working Group for Cape Verde met for the first time.

The Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Eurochambres, RECP and ALER jointly organized a workshop to present the Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP) under the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) and address how companies can benefit from this program.

ALER's General Assembly was held last March 29 at the headquarters of the Association in Lisbon. This General Assembly approved unanimously the Activities and Accounts Report of 2015. The Communication Plan of ALER was also discussed and approved unanimously.

ALER organized the 1st Edition of ALER Open Day last March 16th at the premises of the Association in Lisbon.

ALER was invited by the United Nations Foundation to organize a Webinar about Renewable Energy in Mozambique, that will take place on December 15th, 2015.
