ALER supports São Tomé and Príncipe in mobilizing investments for the energy sector

Isabel Cancela de Abreu, Executive Director of ALER, met last week with the Prime Minister of São Tomé and Príncipe and the Minister of Infrastructure and Natural Resources, on the sidelines of the São Tomé and Príncipe Investment Forum in Brussels.

ALER reaffirms its commitment to positioning São Tomé and Príncipe as an attractive destination for investment in the energy sector, strengthening its role at the regional and international levels and mobilising financing for the implementation of the country’s energy project pipeline, as identified in the recently presented National Sustainable Energy Investment Plan (PNIES).

As highlighted by Isabel Cancela de Abreu in an interview with TVS – São Tomé Television:
“We will continue to support the country, particularly in the energy sector, so that São Tomé and Príncipe can achieve a just and inclusive energy transition”.

The meeting also marked progress in the joint work between ALER and the Government, including an initiative to be implemented in São Tomé and Príncipe as early as 2026.
