Mozambique presents strategic pipeline in Brussels to attract European investment in renewable energy
Mozambique will present, for the first time in Europe, a structured pipeline of renewable energy projects during the RENMOZ in Europe event, taking place on 17th and 18th March in Brussels. This initiative marks a key milestone in the internationalization of the country’s main business forum dedicated to renewable energy, reinforcing Mozambique’s commitment to attracting European investment to accelerate its energy transition.
The conference will feature the participation of the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo, and a high‑level institutional delegation composed of the country’s main energy sector entities – including the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME), the Energy Fund (FUNAE), Electricity of Mozambique (EDM), Cahora Bassa Hydropower Plant (HCB), Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project (GMNK), the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (APIEX) and the Energy Regulatory Authority (ARENE). These institutions will present strategic priorities, challenges and opportunities for cooperation with the European private sector.
RENMOZ in Europe will highlight the first‑ever presentation in Europe of a structured project pipeline covering solar, wind, hydro, mini‑grids and electricity transmission and distribution sectors. This portfolio has been designed to increase the visibility of the country’s priority projects, strengthening their technical and financial viability before private sector investors and development finance institutions.
The event will also include thematic sessions, B2B and B2G meetings, bilateral engagements and dedicated matchmaking sessions, fostering the creation of consortia, memoranda of understanding and investment partnerships. The event also marks the official launch of the Road to RENMOZ 2026, which will culminate in the main conference to be held in Maputo from 9th to 12th June 2026.
Organized by the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER) and ALER, in partnership with GET.invest Mozambique – an European programme funded by the European Union and Germany –, the event is supported by Mozambican public authorities the European Union and the Governments of Sweden and Belgium, aligning with the Team Europe approach under the Global Gateway strategy.
The Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Mozambique, Antonino Maggiore, states that “Building on a context of institutional coordination and significant regulatory advancements, RENMOZ in Europe is an opportunity to transform the country’s political commitment and ambition for the renewable energy sector into concrete investments and operational partnerships. This initiative is in line with our Global Gateway strategy, which fosters robust partnerships between the EU and partner countries to support transformative infrastructure”.
According to Ricardo Pereira, President of AMER, “Investment attractiveness is directly linked to risk perception. Well‑structured projects – from technical design to financial solidity – reduce that risk and enable more competitive investment conditions. This is why consolidating and preparing the pipeline is so critical”.
Mayra Pereira, President of ALER, adds “RENMOZ in Europe strengthens Mozambique’s projection within the energy ecosystem of Portuguese‑speaking countries and deepens cooperation with European partners. This event offers investors a clearer view of Mozambique’s opportunities and a more predictable investment environment – factors that build confidence and foster long‑lasting partnerships”.
For Michael Franz, Team Leader at GET.invest, “Events such as RENMOZ in Europe help bring concrete projects in Mozambique closer to European companies and financiers with the experience and capacity to implement them. By increasing visibility of the country’s pipeline and facilitating direct dialogue with Mozambican institutions, this initiative creates the conditions for more investments and projects to move forward in the coming years”.
RENMOZ in Europe will bring together around 150 participants, including government representatives, companies, international financiers and multilateral partners, with the aim of positioning Mozambique as a priority destination for renewable energy investment. The event will take place on 17th March at the BeVenue Conference Centre of the Fédération des Entreprises de Belgique, and on 18th March at the Enabel offices in Brussels. Participation is free of charge, subject to prior registration and approval.
